Spring 2018 Trends: Runway to Retail

Writer: Sydney HopeSydney Hope

I’ve been doing some research, and here are some big trends that are hitting stores for Spring 2018! These trends consist of clothing that has hit the runway in New York Fashion Week and personal trends that I have been trying out myself. Since runway clothing can be expensive, I have created a list below of different clothing items that you can purchase yourself at popular retail stores and online.

Gingham

Gingham is a HUGE trend for this Spring. Whether this print be on a top, pants, skirt, bag, shoes, etc., this print is seen everywhere. Personally, I like anything gingham. My favorite are these gingham shoes I purchased from Sam Edelman! I do not have the link for these shoes, because I got them at a Dillards outlet stores for INSANELY CHEAP ($25). However, I have other articles of clothing below that include a link to purchase!

Yellow

This color is all over whether you look on the runway, in stores, or on fashion blogger’s social media pages. I am seriously obsessed with this color! It makes you look tan, bright, and feel happy. What I love about this color is that it really can be worn with so many other colors. I like to use yellow as a pop of color when creating a certain outfit. Here are some yellow articles of clothing and accessories you can buy from different stores that are more affordable than clothing on the runway.

Stars

Last Summer all people saw in stores were “leaf print”. Even though leaf print is still in stores, I am starting to notice that the star print is beginning to take over and replace the leaf print. I think the star print is stunning, because it gives an edginess to any outfit, and it can be worn in so many different ways.

Statement Earrings

Statement Earrings are everywhere nowadays! I am so obsessed with this trend, because you can find so many different earrings whether it be from $1 to $80 and incorporate them into so many outfits. Personally, my favorite earrings are my Sheila Fajl earrings, because they are extremely lightweight, durable and go with everything (linked below are the Sheila Fajl earrings I personally own). However, I have began to branch out and start accessorizing with out of the box earrings that are extremely affordable. I linked some different statement earrings below that I am obsessed with.

Strappy Heels/Sandals

Strappy and lace-up shoes are starting to appear more and more on the runway and in stores. This style works with heels, sandals and espadrilles. I love this look, because it elongates the legs and can be worn with dresses, skirts, and shorts.
